Urban Bollard

System Overview

The Urban Post is a highly accurate and robust person counting system. The Urban Post counts both cyclists and pedestrians and is ideal as a permanent counter in parks and along paved trails.

Using a PYRO sensor with its passive-infrared, pyroelectric technology and a high-precision lens, the Urban Post counts people passing within the range of the sensor by detecting their body temperature. Due to its well-engineered sensor and innovative ORION algorithm, the Urban Bollard can simultaneously detect two people walking in a slightly staggered formation.

The Bollard can be easily installed on any existing hard surface and the sensor is self-calibrating making for a simple installation.

In Victoria, Canada, eight CITIX-IR cameras are installed downtown to measure the impact of cultural events and to develop long-term user trends. These systems gather valuable visitation information that can be used to attract new businesses and to justify new investment in infrastructure.

The CITIX-IR thermal camera is Eco-Counter’s recommended solution for long-term counting of pedestrians on high-traffic sidewalks. Since the system uses thermal imaging to detect, there is no infringement on privacy.
